Meet Dr. McGhee

F.O. McGehee IV, MD, is a board-certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain management physician at Permian Basin Pain Management in Midland, Texas.

A third-generation physician and Texan with deep roots in Houston, Dr. McGehee has called Midland home since 2006. After obtaining his undergraduate degree from Baylor University, he completed medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Dr. McGehee pursued anesthesia out of medical school and completed a four-year anesthesia residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. While at Emory, he developed a strong interest in pain management, and the following year, Dr. McGehee went on to complete a fellowship in interventional pain management at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. Dr. McGehee holds double board certifications – he is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in Anesthesiology and Interventional Pain Management.

Dr. McGehee’s focus and goal for his patients is to help them return to a functional and enjoyable way of life. Unfortunately, that doesn’t always mean being 100% pain-free, but that is why he believes in having open and transparent communication with his patients. Dr. McGehee wants his patients to not only fully understand what is causing their pain and symptoms but what treatment options are available to them. With his extra year of fellowship training, Dr. McGehee has a vast array of interventional procedures and techniques to offer his clients to help them achieve their goals. His primary areas of focus are the spine and joints.

Dr. McGehee is happily married with three children he dotes after. He is known by all for his fun-loving sense of humor and down-home bedside manner. Outside of work, he enjoys playing golf and tennis, as well as watching sports. He sometimes thinks he can still play basketball and football. His most cherished time is vacationing with family and friends.
